PICS has 2 Senior Care Programs namely Assisted living and Independent Living! Assisted Living Assisted Living facility provides a special combination of residential housing, personalized supportive services and health care maximizing independence of our residents. In the Assisted Living facility, seniors reside in their own personal suites, comprising of a kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom, storage room and wheelchair accessible washroom. This is a unique facility which provides 24 hours care to seniors residing here and staff assist them with all activities including personal care, nursing care, emotional and psychological support and other activities of daily living. The seniors home has various staff including care aides, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), housekeeping, and kitchen staff. Our staff members are fluent in various languages including English, Punjabi, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and Fijian Hindi. This unique facility operates in conjunction with the BC Housing and the Fraser Health Authority. Independent Living Our 77 unit Guru Nanak Niwas, PICS’ Independent Living facility, is designed specifically for independent senior adults who want to enjoy a lifestyle filled with recreational, educational and social activities with other seniors. This complex is designed for seniors who are able to live on their own, but desire the security and conveniences of community living. This Independent Living facility offers an enriched lifestyle, with opportunity for seniors to socialize and interact with like minded seniors. The seniors form their social groups and committees and celebrate various social events and get together. They have access to a common lounge, kitchen, library, laundry facility, gym and facility to purchase meals. All the units are subsidized by BC Housing. Those who wish to reside in the complex must be over 55, and have a low income. Located steps from Strawberry Hill Shopping Center, we are within walking distance from churches, temples, libraries, and other amenities. This building is now occupied with seniors of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. This complex is a living example of the meaning of PICS’ mission statement which is “to promote harmony and intercultural understanding for the purpose of building a more inclusive and mutually respectful society”.
